Fridays semi final showdown in the 5A Idaho high school football, playoffs between Rocky Mountain and Coeur d'Alene has all the ingredients for a classic showdown.

Rocky Mountain is ranked #1, Coeur d'Alene #2 and both are undefeated, 10-0 and 9-0 respectively. It's almost as if this should be the championship game but when all is said and done, the winner simply remains unbeaten and moves on the play the winner of the Mountain View-Highland game for the 5A state title.

None the less 630 The Fan will be there as the top two teams in the state collide at Rocky Mountain, a big advantage for the Grizzlies who earned the home field playoff advantage up the the title game where the site will be determined upon the semi final results.

As I look back at the 2018 high school football season it's exciting to see there is a chance for the year to end as it began, with Rocky Mountain playing Mountain View.

The Grizzlies and Mavericks opened the season against one another here on 630 The Fan way back in August. Neither side was thrilled they had to play one another right out of the chute but all these weeks later there is a chance for a re-ride!

There's also the chance Coeur d'Alene and Highland could once again meet for the 5A title as they did last year where the Vikings prevailed.

In short, the four team,s most people felt would be standing at the end of the 5A football season are indeed standing and that's going to make for an exciting Friday night of football.

The four 5A powers of Idaho high school football will provide a classic pair of semi finals in which the only advantage for anyone will be the home field.

I see both games being nail biters but with Highland and Rocky Mountain holding home field serve resulting in a Highland 10-1 vs. Rocky Mountain 11-0 final for the the 5A Championship.
