When high school football kicks off the season everything is pretty straight forward with football every Friday for the next 12 weeks when a champion is crowned.

Basketball season is much different. It kind of starts in secret towards the end of football season, the most exciting and riveting time for football. Then by the time football champions are crowned and we start thinking about basketball we head into the holidays. Schools out, teams are playing strange teams in strange tournaments and it's really hard to get a feel for anything.

All of a sudden it's January 2nd and the focus on high school basketball is intensified and finally we get to determine the players and the pretenders.

Friday January 5th is the debut of our 2018 Taco Bell high school basketball game of the week! The matchup screams of potential with 8-1 Boise at 8-2 Rocky Mountain, both are 4-1 in SIC action. Both were ranked in the last Top 5 state poll of 2017 and it really doesn't get any better than this when it comes to SIC hoops.

Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. and I invite you to join me for all the play by play, or better yet, we'll see you at the gym on Friday.

Tuesday of this week Boise beat Mountain View 74-59 while Rocky topped Eagle 61-31...those were just the warm ups for Friday.

I do want to add the Borah lions also won Tuesday by 12 over Timberline to improve to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in SIC. 630 The Fan will be at Borah January 19th to broadcast their game against Meridian currently 6-3.

So, let the fun begin as we take you all the way to the 5A State Tournament at the Ford Idaho Center in March. I'm expecting a fun and exciting ride!
