Big Sky football teams are stepping it up this weekend hoping to make a statement. A total of six Big Sky teams will face competition from either the Mountain West or the Pac-12 and three Big Sky teams will face Top 25 ranked opponents.

Idaho State will travel to Salt Lake City and a showdown with 11th ranked Utah.

Montana makes the trip to Eugene where they'll battle the 15th ranked Oregon Ducks.

Portland State has a date with 22nd ranked Boise State on the Blue in Albertson's Stadium.

The other Big Sky football challenges this week are Idaho at Wyoming, Weber State at Nevada and Cal Poly at Oregon State.

Honestly I don't see an upset in the games involving ranked teams, nor do I see Idaho surprising Wyoming in Laramie but I am intrigued by Weber State at Nevada and Cal Poly in Corvallis.

Weber State lost 6-0 to San Diego State and Nevada, well who knows? The Pack upset Purdue on a walk off field goal but then had their helmets handed them in a 77-6 loss at Oregon.

As for Cal-Poly at Oregon State I honestly don't have a clue except to say if the Beavers loose this one at home they can pretty much pack up the 2019 season.

Certainly you have to hand it to the Big Sky for stepping up their schedules. I mean the Mountain West makes a big deal of it when they beat a Power 5 team so we'll see if the Big Sky can do some celebrating Sunday or if as the odds makers expect, the league will go 0-6.
