Boise Airport is going more green with the installation of new solar panels on the rooftop of the facility.  This solar project will be used to provide hot water for parts of the airport.

The project includes 12 solar panels and those will fulfill the hot water needs for about half of the airport.  These panels are specifically designed to capture and redistribute heat to warm the water, as opposed to the typical panels that produce electricity.

With these panels, there is two-step process where fluid is warmed in the panels and then redirected to warm the water for the airport.  Plans have been in place for about 18 months, and included a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

If they find success with this portion of the program, there could be expcansion in the future.
