Boise State softball begins the season in just over a week and they'll be one of four Mountain West teams receiving pre-season votes in several polls.

The Bronco's 2020 season opener is February 6th against Saint Mary’s (Calif.) at the NorCal Tournament in Davis, California and this will mark the second-consecutive year that Boise State has been ranked in preseason polls.

The Broncos received votes in both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and the USAToday/NFCA Coaches Polls.

Boise State enters its 12th year of softball with a tough schedule that includes 10 teams currently ranked or receiving votes in collegiate softball’s two major polls.

“I’m pleased that our program is to the point where we are receiving preseason recognition by both polls,” said head coach Maggie Huffaker. “

Among the ranked teams Boise State will face this year are: No. 5 Arizona (March 7), No. 6 Texas (March 1) in Fullerton, Calif., No. 16 Kentucky (Feb. 14) and No. 22 Arizona State (Feb. 16) in Tempe, Ariz.

Also, Oregon (April 20) in a doubleheader at Eugene, Indiana (March 7) at Tucson, Ariz., North Carolina (April 3-4) in Boise, and MW rival San Diego State (April 9-11) at San Diego.

Boise State softball is coming off of back-to-back appearances in the NCAA National Championships, including an at-large bid and a ticket to the regional championship game in 2019 at Florida. The Broncos also had a final 2019 NCAA RPI of 35.

BSU returns 13 letter winners from 2019 led by three 2019 All-Mountain West honorees in seniors Bradie Fillmore (3B) and Jessica McKay (LF) and junior Ashlyn Adams (RF). The Broncos also return their top pitcher, Kelsey Broadus who had an ERA of 3.01.

Boise State will open their will open their home and conference season the weekend of March 13-15 when they host Fresno State.
