Boise State football coach Bryan Harsin had this to say today concerning the departure of running backs coach Lee Marks to Fresno State:

“Our players will return to campus on Sunday and preparations will begin for another successful season of Boise State football in 2020. We were in the process of hiring an offensive coordinator, and we are now also looking for a running backs coach. For each of these positions, as we have always done at Boise State, we are going to find the right fit for this program to continue building on what we have already accomplished.

“We appreciate everything Lee Marks has done for Boise State. This is a great opportunity for Lee, and I would like to wish him the best of luck at his next stop. I have known him for more than 20 years, and worked with him at multiple schools. He is and always will be a great Bronco, and I am happy for he and his family.”

Marks will become an assistant head coach with the Bulldogs as well as running backs coach and some special teams coaching.

As Harsin said the Broncos are still looking for an offensive coordinator and there is speculation Marks was hoping to elevate his status and become the Broncos OC. Since that wasn't going to happen, Marks made the move to Fresno.

As for Harsin, there have been reports in Texas linking him to the open head coach job at Baylor but nothing has been substantiated as anything more than speculation.

What is not speculation is the resignation of Rocky Long as San Diego State head football coach. He resigns almost nine years to the date he was named head coach. Long was 81-38 with the Aztecs and led them to 9 straight bowl games including a 48-11 win this year over Central Michigan in the New mexico Bowl.

Aztec defensive line coach Brady Hoke will replace Long.
