Boise State has cancelled a charity basketball game against Portland State scheduled to be played at Taco Bell arena Wednesday night.

The game was intended to benefit disaster relief from recent hurricanes by asking for a donation at the door rather than an admission fee.

The NCAA provided a waiver for the game but then stipulated non of the student athletes could miss classes because of the game and that was an issue neither side could work out.

Boise State head coach Leon Rice saw the game as a great way for the athletes to raise money to help those affected by severe weather and also an opportunity to play a quality Big Sky opponent as a way to prepare for the season.
