Criner Resigns at Rocky Mountain

High school football practice in Idaho begins in less than two weeks and now Rocky Mountain is looking for a new head coach.

Scott Criner, who was 38-9 at Rocky and won a 5A State title has resigned for an administrative post at Eagle High school. Criner says the new job represents a 60% pay raise and he had to put his family first.

Criner will replace Kimber Chrz who is now an assistant principal at Eagle. Criner admits the timing is awful but says he knows Rocky has some outstanding coaches on staff and the program will just keep building.

Rocky Mountain is one of the preseason picks to win the 5A Title in part because of running back Carter Kuehl. Kuehl is considered by many to be the best running back in Idaho and on Sunday night he committed to Air Force after considering offers from Boise State and Idaho among others.

So far no replacement has been named for Criner whose hiring is pending school board approval.
