The Boise State defense seems to start with defensive end Curtis Weaver but that's not where it stops.

Weaver had three sacks against UNLV Saturday and 9 on the season, making him the all time sacks leader in Mountain West history with 29 1/2 career sacks. Despite that achievement Weaver was not named the defensive player of the week in the conference which is alright with Weaver.

For the record, the defensive player of the week was Luq Barcoo of San Diego State who intercepted three Colorado State passes on three consecutive plays, pretty impressive!

As for Weaver and the rest of the Bronco defense, they're allowing just 16 points per game  and what I find amazing is they've registered shutouts in five of the ten half's of football they've played this season.

In this day and age of multiple offenses with a run and shoot philosophy it's almost impossible to shut anybody down and the Broncos do it 50% of the time.

The Boise State defense may well face their toughest test of the season this Saturday when Hawaii comes to town. The Warriors are averaging 37 points per game, have beat two Pac 12 foes in Arizona and Oregon State and whipped Nevada in Reno 54-3.

It's been three years since BSU and Hawaii have played, 2016 to be exact with the Bronco's winning 52-16. Right now Boise State is favored by just 11.
