Eagle High Gets New Turf

More than a decade ago booster at Eagle and Meridian High schools had somewhat of a turf war. The booster pride in both schools ran deep and in 2006 each installed an artificial surface on their football fields funded by the boosters..

Instantly the fields became a multi purpose sports bonanza and now more  than a decade later both are worn out.

Meridian's turf was replaced last year and this time was funded by the West Ada school district for a price tag of $592,491. Now the district has approved the replacement at Eagle High, the cost $621,204. Sprinturf the same company that replaced the Meridian turf is doing the Eagle work and expects to start the project by May 22nd.

It turns out with a field life of a decade or better and with multi purpose use, the fields are a cost effective answer to grass fields which need constant work to maintain and can really only accommodate one sport.

Rocky Mountain also has an artificial surface that was installed in 2008 and the Grizzlies are next in line for a replacement.
