Eagle Island State Park Closes Gates Indefinitely; Treasure Valley Looks for Alternative Places to Cool Down

On one of the hottest weekends of 2017 so far, people hoping to cool off at Eagle Island State Park were met with an unwelcome message.

If you were hoping to splash down Eagle Island's waterslide, cool off in the water or work on your tan on the swimming beach this week, you'll need to make a back up plan. The gates at the park are closed until further notice.

The park made the decision to close on Saturday because flood waters from the Boise River are rising around the park's entrance and have flooded parts of the land within the park.  For the safety of their visitors, the park plans to keep the gates closed until further notice.

Treasure Valley Seeks Alternative Ways to Cool Down

With a high of 97º in the forecast for Wednesday, Treasure Valley residents are desperate for a way to cool down and spend some time near the water.  With the Boise River closed to floaters and the new closure of Eagle Island, the hunt is on for alternative ways to splash.

Quinn's Pond continues to be one of the most popular destinations in Boise to cool down.  You can also check out FREE splash pads in Boise at Borah Park and Comba Park. In Meridian you can find splash pads at Settlers Park and Kleiner Park.
