This week the state of Washington became the first in the nation to allow for the eco friendly disposal of Grandma, Uncle Joe or whichever relative you chose to be disposed of by "natural organic reduction."
Washington Governor Jay Inslee approved a bill whereby bodies can be turned into soil in a matter of weeks.
It's a Human Composting process where a mixture of materials like wood chips and straw is combined with a love one and in weeks produces organic soil.
About a wheelbarrow full, just enough to grow a tree, spread over the veggies or keep the soil in an urn similar to cremation.
This is being called an eco friendly burial alternative and can be done by a licensed facility.

Proponents of the law say it will help reduce the demands on space needed after a person dies, curb pollution from chemicals pumped into buried bodies that can seep into groundwater and reduce carbon emissions from cremation. It also can help with the planting of trees.

Unfortunately for me I learned this news today at breakfast. My first thought? Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life on this planet!

I don't know about you but if someone in Washington asks me to try Grammy's veggies, they're delicious, I'm thinking twice.

Bury me, cremate me but please...just say no to "natural organic reduction!"
