Iconic Gay Club In Downtown Boise Set For April Reopening

I'm a sucker for drag. I personally hope to enter the niche world of drag kings as my alter ego Angelo. But the world of drag queens is really where it's at. It's fantastical, spectacular, fun. Gay friendly bar The Balcony Club embraces it to the fullest. Unfortunately the pandemic didn't discriminate when it came to shutting down places of business no matter how culturally beautiful and important. As such, The Downtown Boise hot spot has been closed since early December. The decision was made after Covid-19 numbers continued to rise, risking the safety of patrons and employees. The club vowed to reopen once case numbers were more under control, and it appears the time has finally come!

April 2nd, 2021 will mark the triumphant reopening of The Balcony Club. To celebrate the occasion appropriately called "We're Back Bitches," they are hosting a free Drag and Burlesque Show featuring over a dozen performers and counting. As the blessed day draws nearer, the venue is taking to their Instagram daily to reveal the queens who'll be entertaining us. Among those announced is Cyraphina, a queen I think would crush it on RuPaul's Drag Race. So I really wanna check this out.

Coronavirus case numbers aren't as high as they were and people are finally getting vaccinated, but Covid-19 is still here. So space is going to be limited. If you wanna get in on the action, probably get there early for the 8pm start time. But it's downtown. Might as well go have dinner first and pre-game. Fork is nearby and Bittercreek Alehouse is just across the street. Make a whole night of it!
