The University of Idaho today announced Athletic Director Rob Spear has been placed on 60-day administrative leave.

The decision was made shortly after the Idaho Association of Students announced they would call for Spear to resign immediately during their regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow night.

The decision to place Spear on leave was made by Idaho President Chuck Staben and is a result of the recent outcry concerning the way sexual assault complaints were handled by Spear in 2012 and 2013.

President Staben says the leave of absence will allow time for the University to process any failures in reporting the assault complaints, what has been done since and what can the University do in the future.

Pete Isakson, an association athletic director will handle the day to day operations for the Vandals during Spear's absence.
