San Diego State football coach Rocky Long has irked Boise State fans in the past by saying there is nothing mystical about the blue turf. Then proving it by winning on the blue.

Rocky Long has put together back to back 11-3 seasons, they're the reigning Mountain West football champions, have been to six straight bowl games under Long and for the first time in 30 years the Aztecs finished the season in the college football top 25.

More importantly, Rocky Long has found a way to share or win three of the last six Mountain West titles and just received a five year contract extension.

Rocky Long is touting San Diego State as San Diego's team now that the Chargers have bolted to Los Angeles. Plus with the Chargers gone there's more revenue opportunities for the Aztecs than ever before.

San Diego State is perched to become the poster team for the Mountain West. They've been the team with a chip on their shoulder lately, like Boise State was for years.

Indeed the Aztecs are charging ahead in a Charger-less world of So-Cal.
