As we head into the final week of the NFL's regular season former Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch continues to stack up fantastic numbers as a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys.

Vander Esh did not start the season but has quickly become the number one ranked rookie linebackers in the NFL and the 3rd ranked linebacker overall with 131 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 tackles for loss and 7 pass deflections.

Just like he was at Boise State, Vander Esch is all over the field and that ability is something he credits to playing 8-man football in Riggins, Idaho.

Since there are obviously fewer players on the field in 8-man football, there's is more open field to cover and Vander Esch has just made it a habit to head to the action on every play.

Leighton Vander Esch is certainly one of the top stories in the NFL this season and a key player in the Cowboys turnaround that has led them to the playoffs..
