Several local collegiate athletes received recognition today for their performances over the weekend.

College of Idaho quarterback Darius James Peterson was named the Frontier Conference player of the week. He threw for 356 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Coyotes 47-14 win at Carroll College.

C. of I. is now 5-0 and they've won 11 straight games dating back to last year. The Yotes, ranked 8th in the NAIA standings will host no.22 Montana Tech Saturday at 1pm. The new rankings will come out later this week.

Boise State wide receiver John Hightower made the Paul Horning Honor Roll for his 7 catches 141 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Bronco's 59-37 win over Hawaii. Hightower also took a couple of snaps at quarterback and one of the plays he ran resulted in a Robert Mahone touchdown run.

In soccer, Boise State goalie Sydney Smith has been tabbed the Mountain West defensive player of the week after registering her 9th shutout of the season, a 1-0 win over New Mexico. Boise State was 2-0 over the weekend and is now leading the Mountain West with a 5-1 record.
