We follow our Boise State Broncos, Idaho Vandals, Colleg of Idaho (Yotes) and the list goes on. You also have the high school football battles including BSU's college basketball run this year.

It's fun to cheer for the underdog though. Sometimes fans get tired of seeing the same teams win and that is where the Meridian 5A boys team made history. The guys won the first state championship since 1992.

I'm not at all the high school basketball games but I did hear that these kids were stars. There is just something when you have a team that believes in doing the impossible to make that dream come true.

It's an awesome feeling. It's a dream come true.

That from senior forward Brody Rowbury describing the win seconds after cutting that net down. The Meridian High Warriors ended the season with a 20-1 record almost going perfect.

The local connection is what's sweet. Meridian High School's basketball coach is a former BSU player. Jeff Sanor finished at Boise State in 1991, averaging 14.3 points with 3.4 assists per game. Jeff was a baller and now celebrates with his Meridian High state champions. Jeff also played for a few years for the University of Washington before heading to Boise State.

I think Meridian has got the program going in a really good direction, and I thought the time was right.

That's Coach Sanor after being named the head coach back in 2017. I would say this former Bronco knew exactly what he was talking about.

Congratulation to the Meridian High boys for completing their journey to the number one spot, state champions, and ending the 29-year drought. Check out KTVB highlights below.

Sidenote: Middleton just won their first State Championship since 1965 over the weekend in 4A.
