A pair of struggling high school basketball teams collided Thursday night in 5A SIC action. The Mavericks of Mountain View 1-4 hosted the 0-4 Hawks of Skyview in a game broadcast on sports radio The Fan 105.5fm and 630am.

The first quarter was a back and forth battle until Baylor Perrin, a 5-7 sophomore got the nod from Maverick head coach Jon Nettleton to get into the game and get into the game he did!

If you saw Perrin in the halls of Mountain View he'd be the last person you'd figure could take over a game single handedly.

Perrin was left wide open by the Skyview defense so he took a three pointer and nailed it, nothing but net. So, Perrin took another and another and another and another until he had made five of five three point shots in the first half, scored 20 points off the bench and handed his teammates a 15 point lead at the half following a three point margin after the first quarter.

Perrin would finished the game with 29 points and Mountain View beat Skyview 78-67.

After the game I teased Mountain View head coach Jon Nettleton for not starting Perrin, he looked at me and said "Yeah, it was coaching genius"!

In other 5A boys basketball last night Borah improved to 6-0 beating Eagle 38-34 in Eagle and the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies are now 5-1 after crushing Boise 62-34.

Rocky and Borah collide Friday December 27th at Borah and we will have that game live on sports radio The Fan 105.5fm and 630am as our McDonald's game of the week.
