Boise State distance runner Allie Ostrander has been named the Student-Athlete of the year in the Mountain West.

The All-American from Alaska recently won the NCAA National Steeplechase championship in Eugene and just 90 minutes later finished 4thin the 5,000m.

Ostrander, just a redshirt freshman was injured most of the 2016 season and decided to use the shorter Steeplechase event to get back into long distance shape.

In only her 4th competitive Steeplechase she won the national title. Ostrander is just the second Boise State athlete to be tabbed the Student Athlete of the year in the Mountain West, joining Emma Bates.
