The high school football season kicked off August 25th with no surprises. Our Taco Bell game of the week between Mountain View and Eagle had some opening night issues but was exciting and as predicted went right down to the wire with Mountain View winning 21-19.

The new field at Thunder Stadium wasn't officially approved for play until 4pm just three hours before kickoff. I'm thinking they were pretty sure the field would pass inspection because it was too late by 4pm to move the game.

The scoreboard had some issues as well. I can swear the first quarter was longer than normal but can't prove it. The second quarter saw the scoreboard go dark and it wasn't fixed until the third period.

That being said, it was a fun opening night, maybe not so much for Eagle fans but the game certainly lived up to the hype.

This week 630 The Fan will be at Donna Larsen Park where the Borah Lions will play host to the Bishop Kelly Knights. Jared Zabransky and I will have all the play by play beginning at 7pm.

Bishop Kelly opened it's season with a 35-31 win over Kuna while Capital beat Borah 37-19.

Other opening night results included: Nampa over Caldwell 28-13 as the Bulldogs snapped a 14 game losing skid.

Meridian outlasted Centennial 46-45 in the wildest season opener, Skyview topped Lakeland 47-21, Vallivue dispatched Twin Falls 40-7 and Ridgevue beat Boise 14-10 to open the weekend on Thursday night
