The basketball coaches in the SIC got it right when they voted Tori Williams of Centennial and Kobe Terashima of Rocky Mountain the SIC 5A basketball players of the year.

Williams, who has signed a full ride scholarship to Utah was a no brainer as she led Centennial to the 5A girls title. Terashima of Rocky Mountain meantime could have easily been overlooked for player of the year by a player from his own team, Kolby Lee.

Lee is the Gatorade player of the year in Idaho and headed to BYU. At 6-10 he dominated players in the key and was the first player you noticed when Rocky Mountain took the court.

However it didn't take long to figure out who was running the show. I know Rocky head coach Dane Roy, co-coach of the year in 5A SIC with Boise's Manny Varela calls the shots from the sidelines but on the court Kobe Terashima was making it happen.

One time after returning home after calling play by play for a Rocky game on 630 The Fan my wife said to me "You sure call Terashima's name a lot." Yes I do!

It was that way all season. Terashima drove the lane producing layup after layup and when he wasn't scoring he was dishing the ball to others for easy buckets as he paced the Grizzlies to the 5A state boys championship.

Williams and Terashima, fun to watch impossible for defenses to stop both earning well deserved player of the year honors.

Meantime as for 1st team all SIC 5A honors:

Girls: Kate Murray-Eagle, Cassidy Tiegs-Eagle, Mandy Simpson-Boise, Kiana Corpus-Borah and Abby Kreiser-Mountain View

Boys: Paul Pennington-Boise, Delveion Jackson-Centennial, Kolby Lee-Rocky Mountain, Cam Howard-Mountain View and Justin Saunders-Capital.
