One by one state high school championships were decided over the weekend. By late Sunday there was only one title to be determined and that was the State Softball championship.

Eagle High, the two time defending state champions and last years #1 prep team nationally was one again vying for the state title, this time against Lake City.

The game was scoreless into the 5th but that's when the Mustang bats exploded. Eagles Kelly Kukla stroked a two run single giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. A pair of RBI singles followed by Noelle Foster and Rachel Menlove and Eagle appeared well on it's way to a 3rd straight 5A Championship.

Eagle pitcher Autumn Moffat, who is headed to BYU had allowed just one hit through 5 innings but in the 6th Lake City loaded the bases and scored 3 runs to make it a one run game heading into the final inning.

Moffat regained her form and put down the Lake City batters 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th and Eagle held on for a 4-3 win.

Eagle is now 88-3 over the last three seasons including a 29-0 run last year as the Nations top prep softball team.
