Two years ago the Idaho Vandals decided to fly to Troy, Alabama on game day. They won't make the same mistake this year says head coach Paul Petrino.

The Vandals arrived with about an hour to spare before they had to be at the stadium and despite no sleep except for some naps on the plane and the bus ride to the stadium the Vandals upset Troy, a win Coach Petrino see's as a turning point for the Vandal football program.

Petrino said this week it was the win over Troy two years ago that set the table for a Bowl run in 2016 and that has carried this years Vandal squad despite some disappointing losses.

Petrino says the win over Troy proved to his players they were good, they were tough and knew how to win.

The Vandals who beat Louisiana Monroe 31-23 Saturday are faced with a quick turn around having to play Thursday night on ESPNU but they head to Alabama with plenty of incentive. Idaho is now 3-5 with four games to play and still a chance to become bowl eligible.

As always, 630 The Fan will broadcast the Idaho-Troy game, Pregame at 6 p.m. followed by a 7:15 p.m. kickoff Dennis Patchin with the play by play.
