The Boise X-Games are one week away and the final preparations are underway for this ESPN competition to be held at Boise's Rhode Skate Park which lies under the I-84 Connector.

The event is June 9-10 and is a qualifier for the X-Games in Minneapolis and only skateboarders and BMX riders who received ESPN invitations will participate.

The event is expected to attract thousands and city officials have been hard at work planning parking, shuttles and just trying to be ready to meet the needs of fans and competitors alike.

Some 40 world class skateboards have been invited to the Boise qualifier and about two dozen male BMX riders and the top 6 in each class will advance to Minneapolis.

Actual competition begins with women's skateboarding elimination on June 9th at 2 p.m. ABC will tape the events and provide coverage on June 17th. The event will also be streamed live.

FYI, Rhodes Skate Park was renovated in 2016 and immediately skateboarders claimed it to be a world class facility, maybe the best in the world.

For sure it will be tested next weekend with some of the best in the world.
