Boise State football coach Bryan Harsin was in the spotlight today at Mountain West Media days in Henderson, Nevada.

Nothing new to report although Harsin did confirm quarterback Chase Cord still has not been completely medically cleared from last years knee injury.

Does that mean a wide open quarterback race is about to begin? The last time Boise State was so close to a season without a front runner for quarterback was 2008.

That was the year Chris Petersen brought Kellen Moore to his press conference prior to the season opener against Idaho State. Petersen turned the mike over to Kellen and said this is our starting quarterback.

Moore and BSU beat the Bengals 62-0 and Kellen's first real test came three weeks into the season at Oregon where the Broncos shocked the Ducks 37-32.

Whoever wins this years starting nod begins with Florida State in Florida. There will be no Idaho State and in Moore's case, Bowling Green week two for warmups

So, can you name the eight quarterbacks on this years Boise State roster?

Chase Cord is the one with the most game experience, he's a red-shirt sophomore. Jaylon Henderson a red-shirt senior is next on the experience chart.

Jalen Walker is a red-shirt junior, Marques Evans a red-shirt sophomore and then a bunch of freshman.....Zack Matlock, Kaiden Bennett, Riley Smith and Hank Bachmeier.

I will guarantee you each player has the ability to play the position. The key to success at Boise State is to conquer the complexity of the system. That was something Moore was able to do from the get-go and why he's advanced so quickly in the NFL to where he is no the Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator.

Answers will be quick in coming as the Broncos begin practices August 2nd and of course open the season August 31st against Florida State in Jacksonville.
